Although I can’t be sure it was anything more than just a coincidence, I installed a new NVIDIA driver today, and magically discovered 5.1 sound coming out of my home theater speakers, over the S/PDIF link, as I started watching last week’s episode of Battlestar Galactica.

After not hearing anything but stereo before, I am surprised, but tickled pink that it actually works.

But the driver also created a problem where none existed before. Now my TV displays only in black & white, and doesn’t even fill the screen.

Time for a Mac.
